Artist Spotlight

I’m delighted to share this Artist Spotlight on UK-based Surface Pattern Designer Kate Frost.

Kate and I first met during the 2024 Immersion Course hosted by Bonnie Christine, where we were Study Group buddies alongside other wonderful female artists.

Her Journey

Since then, Kate has had an incredible journey, launching her website, publishing her newsletter, completing her portfolio, and most recently returning from Los Angeles as a finalist in the Two-Pages Curtains competition! About Kate

Kate is a Surface Pattern Designer, parent-carer, and longtime yogi. She supports creatives with practical, seasonal guidance and grounded insights. Her monthly Studio Insights newsletter is one of my favourites which I am usually reading while waiting for my kids to fall asleep.

What makes her writing special is the way she brings her knowledge of Vedic and Yogic Wisdom Traditions into everyday life and routine. One of my favourite topics she writes about is the moon’s energy and how we can apply it to our daily rhythms. I genuinely look forward to each edition, and I’ve shared a snippet from her latest newsletter below.

Moon energy

December 2025

Author: Kate Frost, snippet from her December newsletter

As we move from December's final full moon into the quiet dark of the new moon on the 20th, we shift from illumination to gentle incubation. The full moon offered fullness and clarity.
In Vedic astrology it is a moment when the mind becomes bright and reflective, allowing emotions and insights to rise so we can clearly see what we have been carrying.
Now, as the moon wanes, our outward drive naturally softens. This fortnight invites simplicity, completing only what truly needs attention and letting unnecessary effort fall away.
The new moon itself is considered a sacred pause. It is a time of deep rest, when the mind is quieter and more receptive, and when small intentional seeds can be planted for the next waxing cycle.
With this new moon falling just before Christmas, it feels like a meaningful moment to slow down, breathe, and create space for restoration, allowing creative energy to replenish quietly beneath the surface before the light begins to grow again.

Kate’s reflections on the moon’s cycles have been especially inspiring for me. In fact, they sparked the creation of my own 2026 Lunar Calendar, available both as an art print and a t-shirt. It’s designed to help you stay connected to the rhythms of the moon throughout the year.

Together with Kate’s Studio Insights, it’s a wonderful way to stay aligned with the seasons, cycles and energies that guide us.
