Again, as with some of my other zodiac designs, this one is heavily linked to my childhood and my absolute love of Disney's Fantasia. The Sagittarius design is also inspired by this film, so there’s definitely a strong childhood influence running through the whole collection.
Because I know the goldfish in Fantasia so well from memory (which I later learned were inspired by Cleo from Pinocchio!), it was quite hard not to draw them in a way that felt too familiar. I really wanted them to feel like my own interpretation rather than just a reference.
I’ve also added lilypads and lotus flowers, inspired by the recent trend seen across a lot of big fashion houses around the “water garden” aesthetic.
The idea for this one came quite easily, really - I didn’t have to go on any weird research missions for once. And I actually really like how it’s turned out! Was also an easy one to keep true to Pisces 'two fish swimming in opposite directions' and but also make it look stereotypically feminine. I say stereotypical in the sense that women don't have to wear pastel colours, be decorated with hearts and have long eyelashes, we can be whatever we want - but I suppose for this design I enjoyed adding these elements, and making them look one of my many versions or interpretations of being 'girly'.
Each fish has 12 hearts in her tail, due to Pisces being the 12th sign of the zodiac. Plus, of course, the Pisces glyph in the bottom left hand sign.
I think this could make a nice art print, actually, due to being fairly rectangular in shape.
